The Australian Web Industry Index
Launched in January 2007, the Australian Web Industry Index provides a central location for people to find web designers and developers around Australia. Listings are open to financial business members of the Australian Web Industry Association and include a detailed profile of their business making it easier for a customer to choose a designer and providing better exposure for business members.
West Australian Web Awards
The WA Web Awards (WAWA) is an official event organised by the Australian Web Industry Association since 2005 as a showcase of the outstanding work of West Australian web designers and developers. Following the success of the first two years, the WA Web Awards are now firmly entrenched on the industry calendar.
Port 80 Meetings, Forums & Mini Talks
Port 80 Meetings are held monthly across Australia bringing together web professionals for an evening of networking, socialising, and now there’s an added educational aspect with Port 80 Mini Talks launched in Perth in February 2007. Port 80 currently takes place in Perth, Melbourne and Canberra with work underway to establish groups in Adelaide and Brisbane in 2007.
The Port 80 Forums were established in 2002 and provide a place for web professionals to communicate, socialise and find work (or employees) all over Australia without leaving their desks. The forums currently boast over 200 active members and thousands of posts.
A new feature of Port 80 Meetings, the Port 80 Mini Talks consist of two 10-minute presentations given at the start of Port 80 Meetings. Each talk focuses on a different topic concerning or of interest to the web industry. To date these have included web software and javascript methods. Podcasts and slides are made available for download after each event.
